You need to get a wireless router and then connect wirelessly to it. You can call Verizon and have them come set it up or you could do it yourself if you want. It's not a difficult process and if you need more help don't hesitate to contact me via e-mail through my profile. How to get internet on laptop?
Definitely avoid using your neighbor's wireless connections, as that would be against the law.

You need to purchase a wireless router. Linksys, D-Link, Netgear are all good brands. They will come with instructions how to connect your wireless router and computers to the internet.
No way to hack into a secured wireless network and it also would be illegal with out permission and the password.

You can use a Ethernet Cat 5 Cable to connect to the Verizon modem or the desk top if it has a out Ethernet port. Verizon or you would have to buy and install a wireless router to be able to connect wireless.

Below is are links on hooking up your lap top wired and wireless, after connecting wired to the modem using the Ethernet cable you go to network connections and set up the connection by clicking new connection and entering the information asked for. You can ask a parent or Verizon for the needed info for setting up the connection and they aslo can guide you through the set up.

Step 1

Make sure that the Internet is on and running at the location you want to get an Internet connection at. If no service, no connection.

Step 2

Plug in the laptop to the (Internet Service Provider) ISP modem or router, whichever is at the location, with the network cable. Make sure you get a link light (steady green or amber light that indicates you're plugged in correctly).

Step 3

Turn on your laptop and let the operating system load. If your laptop is already turned on, restart it now.

Step 4

Launch your browser. Internet Exploder or Mozilla Firefox are two of the most commonly used. If you are using a laptop that was purchased with a Microsoft Windows operating system, Internet Explorer should already be installed.

Step 5

After logging in, you should be able to get online. If you are not able to connect to the Internet, check your IP address (see Tips section below); complete the process again, starting from step one
you can share your verizon internet with your laptop, like create a network with your desktop and laptop with a ethernet cable.
