Wireless Internet Security? How do I create a secure connection?

I just got a new wireless internet for my house, and I want to secure it so that no one uses my internet without my knowledge. I have read about encrypting the connection, but when I try to do that, it says I am not allowed to encrypt it, and I am not allowed to set up passwords (the button is not able to be clicked on, but it does say it is an option.) How do I create the security I want and do I have to pay in order to have this security?(I would prefer not to) I have a TP-Link model code TP-WR340GD. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. I also have a copy of the instruction manual, but it is very vague. Just in case you need to know. I have 3 computers in my household that I want on this internet (2 main computers and one laptop). Any help is appreciated, especially computer experts or someone with this model of wireless internet.Wireless Internet Security? How do I create a secure connection?
If you're trying to do that via a wireless connection, there may be an option set in the router to prevent it. Allowing router administration wirelessly is just asking to have your router hijacked by someone nearby.

If this is what you're doing, try connecting a computer directly to the router with an Ethernet cable and see if that allows you to set up the protection.Wireless Internet Security? How do I create a secure connection?
